BANKNOTE SCANNER – Efficient Mobile Banknote Identification and Documentation
Our solution for police and law enforcement in blaulicht magazine

Published: March 10, 2026
The latest issue of blaulicht magazine 01/2026 highlights the BANKNOTE SCANNER, an efficient solution for police forces to recognize and document banknotes found during operations. Designed for supporting mobile evidence collection, it scans banknotes, identifies their currency and value, and documents their serial numbers. This brings more efficiency to frontline operations and streamlines evidence collection. The solution will be presented live at the SPIK 2026 event, and kinegram.digital is currently inviting institutions to participate in field trials.
The blaulicht trade magazine, published in Switzerland, is a leading source of information for police forces, public safety, law enforcement, and security. Its articles in German, French, and Italian provide insights on current topics and discuss developments in relevant fields, such as new technologies or innovative tools for law enforcement. The magazine is primarily aimed at executives and decision makers in authorities and organizations from the law enforcement or security sectors.
Law enforcement officers regularly have to identify, count and record banknotes as evidence. This process is often done manually, which is both time-consuming and error-prone. To simplify the evidence management of banknotes, kinegram.digital developed the BANKNOTE SCANNER. This mobile app is designed specifically for identifying and documenting banknotes directly with the duty phones.
Stefan Gabriel, Head of Digital Business at kinegram.digital, confirms: “The solution can be integrated seamlessly into existing police investigation or case management systems. This way, forces can easily scan banknotes with their duty phones – in batches, fast, efficient and secure.” The app identifies the respective currency, adds up the notes’ value, and records the serial numbers, alongside taking pictures of all scanned notes which can afterwards serve as visual proof.
This eliminates tedious and error-prone manual work, both in the field and in the ensuing evidence management, making BANKNOTE SCANNER a valuable tool for police patrols, criminal investigations, and evidence collection. As it runs fully offline on duty phones, it also meets strictest security and compliance requirements. The captured data can later be transferred to other systems.
The BANKNOTE SCANNER has currently reached Minimum Viable Product (MVP) status, meaning it is fully functional and includes all core features that are needed for its practical use. In order to fine-tune the solution based on actual users’ needs and feedback, kinegram.digital works with several police units, including the city police of Zurich, who are currently testing the MVP version in active field operations. Additional institutions such as police forces and other law enforcement organizations are welcome to participate in further field trials.
Interested organizations can experience the BANKNOTE SCANNER live at SPIK 2026, where kinegram.digital will present the app at exhibition booth no. 61. Product Owner Patrick Brouwer will be available on site to demonstrate the solution and to discuss your questions regarding participation in field testing.
